It is probably still the best way to open GM files and have the GM sounds open automatically. And since Roland no longer owns Cakewalk, I doubt that TTS-1 will ever be updated. After adding the synth to a project, add 15 additional MIDI tracks. Set the output of each track to TTS-1 and specify the MIDI channel in all the tracks.
